چکیده

Coherent resonant tunneling through an array of quantum dots in an inhomogeneous magnetic field is investigated using an extended Hubbard model. Both the multiterminal conductance of an array of quantum dots and the persistent current of a quantum-dot molecule embedded in an Aharanov-Bohm ring are calculated. The conductance and persistent current are calculated analytically for the case of a double quantum dot and numerically for larger arrays using a multiterminal Breit-Wigner-type formula, which allows for the explicit inclusion of inelastic processes. Cotunneling corrections to the persistent current are also investigated, and it is shown that the sign of the persistent current on resonance may be used to determine the spin quantum numbers of the ground state and low-lying excited states of an artificial molecule. An inhomogeneous magnetic field is found to strongly suppress transport due to pinning of the spin-density-wave ground state of the system, and giant magnetoresistance is predicted to result from the ferromagnetic transition induced by a uniform external magnetic field. @S0163-1829~98!01435-0#

M ar 1 99 6 Coherent resonant tunneling in AC fields

We have analyzed the tunneling transmission probability and electronic current density through resonant heterostructures in the presence of an external electromagnetic field. In this work, we compare two different models for a double barrier : In the first case the effect of the external field is taken into account by spatially dependent AC voltages and in the second one the electromagnetic fie...

Mri-phy/p990308 Results from Bosonisation for Resonant Tunneling through a Quantum Dot in an Aharanov-bohm Ring

We study coherent charge tunneling through a one-dimensional interacting ring with a one-dimensional quantum dot embedded in one of its arms through bosonisation. The symmetries of the effective action explain many of the features such as phase change between resonances, in-phase successive resonances and phase-locking, which have been observed in experiments of coherent transport in mesoscopic...

Resonant and Kondo tunneling through molecular magnets

Transport through molecular magnets is studied in the regime of strong coupling to the leads. We consider a resonant-tunneling model where the electron spin in a quantum dot or molecule is coupled to an additional local, anisotropic spin via exchange interaction. The two opposite regimes dominated by resonant tunneling and by Kondo transport, respectively, are considered. In the resonant-tunnel...

Resonant tunneling through a C60 molecular junction in liquid environment

We present electronic transport measurements through thiolated C60 molecules in liquid environment. The molecules were placed within a mechanically controllable break junction using a single anchoring group per molecule. When varying the electrode separation of the C60-modified junctions, we observed a peak in the conductance traces. The shape of the curves is strongly influenced by the environ...

The Effect of Structural Parameters on the Electronic States and Oscillator Strength of a Resonant Tunneling Quantum Well Infrared Photodetector

In this paper a resonant tunnelling quantum well infrared photodetector (RT-QWIP) is discussed. Each period of this photodetector structure comprises of a resonant tunnelling structure (AlAs/AlGaAs/AlAs) nearby a quantum well (AlGaAs/GaAs). In this photodetector, photocurrent is produced when an electron makes a transition from the ground state of the well to an excited state which is coupled t...
